Phyllis L. Gilpatrick Gehring Kay 1916-2012 Our sweet, beloved Mother, grandmother and friend, Phyllis Kay, passed from this life into the waiting arms of her family and friends on Oct. 13, 2012. Phyllis was born in Murray, Utah April 14, 1916, the first child of Claude Gilpatrick and Anna May Gilpatrick. She had one brother, Glenn. Phyllis graduated from South High School in 1934. There she met her future husband, Archibald Fred Gehring, who she married on July 25, 1936. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on Feb. 23, 1954. They had 3 children. Dennis, Bonnie, and Barbara. Fred passed away on April 23, 1964, after 27 years of marriage. She later married Charles Albert Al Kay on Aug. 19, 1968. Al passed away Aug. 18, 2003 after 35 years of marriage. Phyllis worked 30+ years for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. She served several missions for the LDS church and had a strong testimony of the Savior. Her greatest blessings in life were her children and grandchildren. She loved to attend family gatherings and enjoyed being with them. Some of her favorites were having her hair done every week, (she missed her black hair, a lot!), genealogy, diet coke, fried shrimp, strawberries, traveling, watching Lawrence Welk, and dancing (which she did into her 80's), She loved to look nice and took great pride in her appearance. Phyllis was gracious and polite to everyone and had a quick wit and sense of humor. Though she lost her sight and hearing in her later years, she always enjoyed a visit and would say be good and stay out of trouble . We are happy that she is now able to dance, and can see and hear the glories of heaven. She is survived by her children: Dennis Fred Gehring (Nelda), Bonnie Jean Gehring Thompson, Barbara Ann Gehring Burnette (C.B.), Step-Children: Vaughn and Joyce, 11 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, numerous step-grand and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 2 step-children, brother and a great-grandson. The family would like to thank Coventry Assisted Living, Spring Creek Nursing and Rehab, and CNS Hospice for the loving care they gave our precious Mom and Grandma. Funeral services are set for Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at 12:00 noon with a viewing from 10:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville, UT.
