Phyllis Shaver Nickel, 84, sweetheart, beloved mom, grandma and great-grandma passed away from the arms of her loving family into those of her heavenly family on Friday, February 6, 2015. Phyllis was born May 20, 1930 in Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada to Henry Alexander Delbert (Alex) Shaver and Blanche Isabella Casselman Shaver, the oldest of three daughters. As a young adult she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she worked as a secretary and stenographer. In due time she met her sweetheart, Edwin F. Nickel, and they were married June 17, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children. Phyllis lived a beautiful life filled with service to her family, church and community. She devoted her life to homemaking, a profession she valued above all others. She served faithfully in every auxiliary organization of the Church, culminating her service with 14 years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Utah Temple. She is survived by her husband, Ed; children: Bill (Teri), Steve (Kris), Heidi (Paul Philpot) and Dave (Julie); 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held, 10-11:45 a.m. Interment, Pleasant Green Cemetery.
