Pierce Allen Fast was born to Emmett Fast and Leora Edith (Young) on July 2, 1925. He had two siblings, Gene (Manwaring) and Richard Fast, both of whom preceded him in death. He served in the U. S. Army's 79 th Ordinance Group Headquarters during WWII in Holland and Germany. While serving in Billefeld, Germany, he was honored to raise the first American flag over Germany on VE Day, Jun 6, 1945. When Pierce returned from the war, he served 2 years as an L.D.S. missionary in the Northern States Mission. He served from April 1947-1949. After his mission, Pierce moved to Los Angeles, California. There he met and married Mona Mae Randall in the LDS Mesa, Arizona Temple on October 11, 1953. They had 4 children. Valerie Mae (Umialiloa), Rebecca (Gary), Reymund Allen (Meegan) and Curtis Randall Fast (Marcinda). While they were raising their family, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Cal State L. A. in 1960; eventually ending up with a Master's Degree. (Quite an accomplishment for a high school dropout who struggled with dyslexia). He taught in public schools in Temple City and West Covina for 28 years. He retired in 1982. After 35 years of marriage, Mona passed away on January 7, 1988, losing a two year struggle with cancer. They have 31 grandchildren and 49 great- grandchildren from their marriage. He found love again when he met and married Dorothy C. Rush in Kearns, UT. They were sealed in the Jordan River Temple on June 25, 1988. Dorothy passed away after a long battle with cancer, on Feb 15, 2007. He married once again when he found a sweet friend in Dorothy L. Keener. They married on August 8, 2009 until his death on June 29, 2017. Pierce was known as Dad, "Opa", Uncle and Brother. He was a kind and loving man. He was the caretaker for both of his wives that battled cancer. He was passionate about his family and the Gospel. He had a strong testimony of God and his Savior, Jesus Christ.
