Our beloved father Ralph William Matson (Moose) was born on November 27, 1940, in Murray, Utah. His loving parents were Royal Lucian Matson and Ethel Fay (Halladay) Matson. He grew up with two brothers and six sisters as well as many cousins. He went to Granite High School and graduated in 1958. He put in 22 years at Kennecott railroad where he proudly earned the nickname Moose. He retired in 1986. Dad was a vibrant and social fellow. He lit up any room he entered with his infectious, booming laughter and edgy sense of humor. He had a big heart and was always proud of and fulfilled by his family. He will be dearly missed.
Dad is survived by his six children Steve (Tammy) Matson, Ken (Denise) Matson, Curt Matson, Tisha Vaculin, Katie Matson and Kelsey Matson as well as 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger sister Marilyn (Ted) VanDam. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Leslie (Esther) Matson, Ron (Helen) Matson, Elaine Cook-Moosman, Linda (Paul) Danjanovic, Marge (Bob) Larson, Lois (Mike) Frank, and Donna (Chuck) Callahan.
