Raymond Patrick Jones quietly passed away surrounded by loved ones on January 24, 2024. Ray was born on April 9, 1949, to Harry Jones and Ann Marie Jones in Warren, Ohio. He had a happy upbringing, as one of 5 children, helping his father on the farm and playing little league. Ray enlisted in the Army in 1967, after graduating high school, and served two tours in Vietnam. He met and married the love of his life, Lyla Willoughby, in 1984, and became a loving stepfather to her son, Von Perkins.

Lyla and Ray loved traveling to Hawaii to see the spectacular beaches and natural beauty. As well as heading to Yellowstone Bear World to bottle feed the bear cubs.

Ray enjoyed building and flying RC Model Airplanes, spending countless hours making extremely detailed and beautiful airplanes. He also found time to take care of all the stray cats at his work, and in the neighborhood, feeding them, making sure they were sheltered, getting them fixed, and finding new homes for them.

He loved spending time with family and friends, watching the Cleveland Browns and Guardians games.

After Lyla passed away Ray purchased a classy red corvette that he named "Ruby". He drove Ruby across the country, visiting family and friends. He entered Ruby in a corvette competition in Ohio and took first place.

Ray will be greatly missed, but we know that he has been reunited, at last, with Lyla, to spend eternity together.

Ray is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, his mother, father, and older brother, Robert Jones. He is survived by sisters Cheryl Jones and Barbara Jones, brother Donald Jones, stepson Von Perkins (Debby Perkins), grandsons Derek Perkins (Vanessa Perkins) and Brandon Perkins (Belen Perkins), and great-grandson Noah Perkins.

Graveside service will be on April 9, 2024, (Ray's Birthday) at Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park at 11:00
