Rebecca Jean Stauffer

Rebecca Jean Higley Stauffer, age 80, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away March 12, 2021. She was born March 4, 1941 in Brigham City, Utah, the daughter of Joseph Vallejo and Marguerite Nielsen Higley.

She lived in Black Pine, Idaho, Brigham City, Magna, Midvale and West Jordan, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School where she excelled as an artist and was on the synchronized swimming team. She worked as a clerk for Blue Cross Blue Shield and for the Boy Scouts of America. She spent many years as a homemaker. Rebecca was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some of her favorite activities were singing, vacations, and going to the cabin. She loved watching wildlife and could spot animals at a distance long before anybody else. She loved the telephone that connected her to her precious friends, neighbors, and family. She considered some friends to be part of her family. She collected bells, many of which were gifted by friends returning from travel. Rebecca canned fruit, embroidered, and once upholstered a couch. Becky looked forward to her lunches at “club,” a small, long-standing circle of high school friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her children Doug, Dan (Cindy) and James; six grandchildren Addison, Austin, Melissa, Gabriella, Dylan, and Andrew; two brothers, Gary (Bonita) Higley of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ted (Betty Ann) Higley of Malta, Idaho; and four sisters DeAnna (Jerry) Peck of Highland, Utah, Margaret (Devon) Rucker of Burley, Idaho, Peggy (Marlin) Decker of Pocatello, Idaho, and Penny (Loren) West of Heybern, Idaho.

The funeral will be held March 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at the Sunset Ridge 7th Ward located at 8834 S Duck Ridge Way, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be conducted beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be at Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S Vine St, Murray, Utah.
