Richard David Gallegos

July 26, 1954 — May 22, 2020

On Friday, May 22, 2020 our prankster and kid at heart, a.k.a Ricochet Rabbit, peacefully passed away at the age of 65.

Rick was born July 26, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joe and Rose Gallegos. Rich has 3 children: Richard Gallegos Jr., Shannon Gallegos-Monson, and Kim Marie Gallegos. He also had his sweet little companion chihuahua named Chica. He met the love of his life and married Rita Rauser on June 20, 1987. He moved from Utah to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for 15 years and moved back to Utah to reside with his wife and family.

Rick was an excellent grandfather and loved spending time with his grandkids. He was their biggest fans and supporter with any activity they chose to do. He was full of life and spunk. When he walked into a room, he definitely made his presence known.

Rick took pride in calling himself the Master Carpenter. He took part in building The Brewer Stadium in which he now has an honorary plaque on the wall. He also took part in building St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In Salt Lake City, Utah, he helped build the Mayan restaurant in Jordan Commons and The Conference Center downtown for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He had a passion for gardening. He grew rose bushes for his wife. He really had a green thumb for anything he grew. He loved to drive his wife crazy. He loved his “Shotzee”. Everyone who knew him, knew he was a pyromaniac. He loved fishing, coin collecting, drawing, painting, bowling, gambling, and playing pool. He was a HUGE Packers fan and loved watching the games with his family.

Rick has now been reunited with his mother; father; and brothers in Heaven.

Rick will be dearly missed by many friends and family and be cherished in our hearts forever.

In honor of Richard, funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2020 by invitation only, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123.
