Richard J Walker

July 19, 1950 — January 17, 2015

"Hooah" Richard J Walker lost his battle to ALS on Saturday, January 17, 2015. He put up one hell of a fight and remained positive to the end. He was born July 19, 1950, to Raymond and Jean Clifford Walker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1978. He then went to work as an aircraft sheet metal mechanic at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in May of 2006. Richard enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, gardening, and trips to Wendover. He loved his annual trips to Alaska every summer. He was a big sports fanatic. His favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees. He loved music and could name any song, any artist, and any album and the year it came out. He had many friends. He had a very caring heart and always put others' needs before his own. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Pierce of Syracuse, who took care of him through it all; son, Richard (Michelle) Walker of Layton, and daughter, Angela (Dave) Smith of Clearfield; granddaughters, Ashlee (Quin) Ellinwood of El Paso, Texas, Jaycee of Syracuse, Ali and Heidi, both of Layton; grandsons, Grady and Dillon of Layton, and Tyler and Tyson both of Clearfield; great-grandchildren, Malakai, Adelia, Azley, and Maylee; sisters, Sharon Zundel of Willard, and Lynn Rae Anderson of Taylorsville; step-mother, Peggy Walker of Evanston, Wyoming; and sidekick and partner in crime, his dog, Skiba. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Monte Zundel; and brothers, David Walker and Robert Walker. His family would like to thank his friends John Martinez, Michael Metcalf, George Bachman, Randy Fisher, and Will Rogers for their help and compassion; Carie and Scott from Certified Nursing Services; and Tyson Jones who helped in his care.
