Richard Steven Lanier

January 2, 1954 — November 4, 2024

Richard "Steve" Lanier

1954~ 2024

Our beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, & friend passed away peacefully in his sleep, on Monday, November 4, 2024. Steve was born January 2, 1954, to Richard Lanier and Nancy Kay Peck in Tucson, Arizona.

Steve graduated with honors from West High School. He then attended Brigham Young University on a Presidential Scholarship.

One of Steve's favorite jobs was being an Accountant for Hostess in San Francisco, California. He loved music, nature, all types of sports, especially basketball and softball.  He was a pinball wizard, achieving many high scores, and could play for hours on one quarter.  Also, very few could beat him at chess.  He mentioned recently, with a twinkle in his eye, that he had even beaten his father.

His love for family will never be forgotten, they meant everything to him.  He was a friend to ALL.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his love for the Savior never wavered. He was true to his faith, his testimony, and his Covenants. He served a Mission for the Church in the Florida/Tallahassee Mission from 1973-1975 and was very fond of "Lanier" County in Georgia.

Steve faced debilitative physical and mental challenges through much of his life, without complaining, but with "grace & dignity".

Like the Apostle Paul, Steve could humbly say, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Steve is survived by his mother Nancy Chadwick; children, Joseph Kell, Sariah Kell, Elizabeth (Paul) Brooker; grandchildren,Kent, Jane, Paige Brooker; siblings Sandra (Kent) Winegar, Jan Haliburton, Daniel Lanier, Mark Chadwick, Matthew (Gail) Lanier Chadwick, Michael Chadwick, many nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly.

Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Langford Lanier, father, Richard Lanier; step-father, Robert Chadwick, sister Debi Lanier, step-brother Dennis Chadwick, & nephew Benjamin Coats.

The family would like to thank the Staff and many friends at The Beehive House & Ivy Brook Assisted living for their unending compassion, love, & support.
