On January 8, 2019, we lost a good man after 60 years of Multiple Sclerosis and other health problems. Richard was born on February 12, 1939 to F. Leone and Raymond Day (deceased) and later adopted by Lewis James Rushton.
Richard graduated from Cyprus High School. Midway through his education at the University of Utah, he joined the Navy. After his service, he continued at the University of Utah and graduated as an architect, moved to Colorado Springs and worked until his retirement. He then returned to Salt Lake City, Utah to be with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by mother Leone; fathers Lewis and Ray; brother Ronald; sister Sally; and many uncles and aunts.
He will be loved and missed by James (Carla) Rushton, Julia (Larry) Skogerboe; and many nieces; nephews; and all their children.
The family would like to thank Mt. Olympus and the hospice nurses, aids and social workers for their care in Richard’s last weeks.
Viewing services will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019, from 5-7:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, followed by a family prayer. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 19th, 11:00 a.m. at Riverton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donate to the MS Society.
Remember in all the peace and quiet to feel the love of a friend and family. God’s love be with you all.
