Rickie Gereld Clayton peacefully returned to our Heavenly Father September 30, 2019. When he passed he was surrounded with love from his children and dear wife. He wanted to remain with his family for as long as possible and was defeated by a combination of cancer, a stroke and a recent brain aneurysm. Illnesses that could take a person one at a time, it took all three to vanquish this mighty man (many of his children would just call it stubbornness).
He was born June 29, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ernest and Inez Clayton. He was the youngest of 10 children. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and all nine siblings.
He met his beautiful bride and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple August 28, 1973. He graduated with a Bachelors from BYU in Accounting and almost finished a second Bachelors in Statistics at the U of U. He proudly retired as an Accountant from Sinclair in 2017.
During his life he had many hobbies, he enjoyed fly-fishing, scouting, gardening and spending time with his large family. He also enjoyed creating art with stained glass and Ukrainian eggs that he was given several awards for in the State Fair. As a youth he was very athletic and encouraged others to play sports, he refereed and coached community sports. He was an avid BYU fan and didn't miss watching a variety of their games. He also was supportive of his wife's quilting hobby, he loved her very much and therefore he reluctantly loved quilting and the quilting collection.
He is survived by the love of his life Jayne; children: Coral (Peter), Jennifer (Adam), Stacey (Lee), Allyson (Andrew), Tiffany (Dave), Michael (Megan), Megan (Mike), Scott (Chandra); and 22 grandchildren. Also survived by the many adopted members that he considered his family. A light has gone out that brightened our world.
A huge “Thank You” to the nurses and doctors at Huntsman and those that work with Huntsman Home Care. We appreciated their kind service and loving care.
