Bob was an excellent husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved his family and there was nothing more important than his family to him. He loved people and he loved to help those he loved. He would give you all he could. He was a little rough around the edges but was one of the most loving and caring people around. He especially loved his 12 grandchildren. He loved to spend time with them and help them learn about the outdoors. He loved to spoil them and looked forward to spending time with them.
Bob was a skillful carpenter by trade. He started out at a young age working as a framer and then learned to do finish carpentry. One day he was asked by his boss if he could build staircases. Bob said confidently "yes I can" without really knowing how to build staircases. He started to learn what would become his craft, building beautiful staircases. Bob was a successful small business owner and ran his construction business. Bob worked very hard to provide for his wife and kids. He worked all the way up to his diagnosis and had to be pulled off the job. Bob was able to do anything he put his mind to, he had a variety of skill sets. He also started a layout boat building business, which bloomed into his real passion for building airboats. He designed and built several small airboats in his free time.
He married the love of his life, Jann Fawson Buckway, August 26, 2000. They met at a singles dance in Salt Lake City. They loved to go camping, fishing, and just spending time with each other. He loved to make Jann laugh and would go to great lengths to get her to laugh. They were each other's best friend and having Jann in his live was one of the best things to happen to Bob.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, especially archery elk, duck, and goose hunting. He loved to fish both out of the boat and on the ice. He learned to chase the big lake trout at Flaming Gorge and was successful. He loved to be out in the boat fishing for hours or in the airboat out in the marsh. He loved to be in the mountains and felt closest to God in the mountains.
