Robert Duane Ackerman

September 18, 1930 — March 5, 2012

Robert D. Ackerman Fair to Middlin Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Robert Duane Ackerman, Papa Bob , passed away peacefully March 5, 2012. Dad was born September 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of Carl George and Mary Irene Nelson Ackerman. He married the love of his life, Clella Mae Jones on July 12, 1950. They were married for almost 60 years and he has missed her terribly since her passing in 2010. Dad found his greatest joy in spending time with his family celebrating special occasions and having backyard barbeques. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was their most enthusiastic advocate. We know he is spending time with our new little Baby Girl Anderson, preparing her to join the family in April. Max was his special buddy and will miss his weekly visits with Papa Bob. Dad taught us so many things during our lives, most importantly to love and support one another and to be a strong family. He had the greatest capacity to love of anyone we know. Caring for us was his life s work and our promise to him is that we will take care of each other. Dad leaves behind a legacy of love and family solidarity that will be honored and cherished by his family. We will hold him in our hearts forever. Dad is preceded in death by our mother, Clella; his parents; 1 brother; 6 sisters and 5 brothers-in-law. He is survived by his children: Cherie (Ted), Cheryl (Jeff), Joanne (Gayle) and Robert (Connie); grandchildren: Laura, Ted (Mica), Rebecca (Chris), Brett (Cyndi), Russ (Kristy), Jack, Kelly (Josh), Jacob and Kallie; great-grandchildren: Max, Jaden, Haley, Jacob and Baby Girl; his best friend, Suzy; sisters, Gladys (Ray) Stoker and Joyce (Don) Chinn; brother-in-law, Duane Searle; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their most heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center, in particular to Joelle and Nikki, for the loving way they cared for our dad. And you, my father, there on the sad height Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. A viewing will be held Thursday, 5-7 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Sanctuary Forest in Dad s name (www.sanctuaryforest.org). Hobbies:Celebrating with family; backyard barbequesOccupation:Salesman
