Robert E. (Bob) Barnett Robert E. (Bob) Barnett, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on January 20, 2012 with family by his side following a courageous battled with cancer. Born February 20, 1935 in SLC to Mona Halford and Russell William Barnett. Married the love of his life, Iona Clegg, August 24, 1954, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He served as a temple worker in the Salt Lake and St. George temples for over 12 years. He loved children and they loved him. Teaching primary was among his favorite callings. He loved helping others and seldom allowed anyone to repay his kindness. He loved working with wood and created many jewelry boxes, clocks, lamps, etc., which he gave to friends and family. Bob worked as a radio disc jockey for 18 years and was the #1 DJ in Utah in the 60's. Awarded Honorary Teen for his outstanding work with teenagers in 1966. Bob became a master Electrician and owned his own business before going to work for the State of Utah as an electrical inspector. Bob served his country for 18 years in the Air Force Reserves attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He later became a certified EMT and Emergency Medical Technician Instructor. Survived by his wife, Iona; children, Kathy (Harold) Blomquist, Judy (Steve) Desmond, Bob (Gesse) Barnett, Ed (Pam) Barnett, Carol (Terry) Jones; 33 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. We will miss his kindness, generosity and his wonderful sense of humor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Church, 3815 West Rachel, Santa Clara, with a viewing Friday, from 6-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and Saturday at the church, 12-12:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012 11:00 a.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
