Robert Henry Robinson, born April 23, 1923 in Wet Canyon, Colorado, passed away surrounded by family October 11, 2014. He married Frances Louise Langowski May 3, 1947. He is survived by children: Louise (Raymond) Rascon, Henry (Elsy) Robinson, Sandra (Garth) Limb; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. Included in these descendants are a grandson and a great-grandson currently serving in the Armed Forces. His wife, Frances; daughter, Lynda Squire; and grandson, Jason Squire preceded him in death. Robert worked in his father's sawmill up Wet Canyon. One one occasion he and his brother, Al, sleepwalked from their home to the mill and back. Their mother followed them all the way, afraid of waking them. When World War II broke out, Robert volunteered for service in the Army Air Force hoping his brothers could stay home to care for their mother and run the family's sawmill. Robert served in the 8th Army Air Force as second radio operator, engineer and waist gunner in a B-24 plane in the European theater. During his tour he flew 36 missions. He and his crew ere shot down four times and were listed as missing in action twice. On one of those missions they didn't return to their base for nearly two days. Robert was injured five times and was awarded three Purple Heart medals. His occupations after the war included lineman, television, electronic and appliance technician; production plant maintenance supervisor (trouble-shooter); general plant technician; plant electrician; owned a restaurant, and upholstery and television repair businesses. Robert's interests and hobbies included constructing beautiful homes for his family. He enjoyed gardening. He was a devoted member of the LDS Church and served in many different callings. He also voluneered with the Boy Scouts. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and his great-grandhchildren enjoyed each other's company. He had a wonderful sense of humor and shared it with everyone he met. Robert easily made friends and will be missed by his family, friends and those who met him. Robert's family expresses sincere thanks for the caring and expertise of the Silverado Hospice staff and volunteers. They enriched the last couple years of his life. They also extend special thanks to relatives and friends for their loving support.
