Rodney M. Sudweeks World War II Veteran After an extended, painful illness, Rodney M. Sudweeks passed away peacefully at his home, November 5, 2012, with loved ones by his side. He was born October 13, 1925 in Panguitch, Utah to Claud and Emma Jane Allen Sudweeks. He was raised in Tropic, Utah, the sixth child of ten and spent his youth with Bryce Canyon as his playground. Rodney was a US Army Veteran of WWII where he served his country bravely and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in the European theater. He retired from Utah Power & Light after 30 great years working as a supervisor of stores. He married Hazel Steed, May 21, 1948; later divorced. Married Jacquelyn Madsen August 16, 1954; later divorced. On August 15, 1979 he was married in the Salt Lake Temple to his loving wife, Betty (Honey) Wallace. With a passion for the outdoors, Rodney spent a great deal of time camping and hunting. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting the Oregon coast. He always planted a fabulous garden of which he generously shared it s bounty. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served a church service mission at the Employment Resource Center. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters: Penny Sudweeks, Suzanne (Keith) Wilkinson, Debie (Tim) Fishnick, Carol (Rod) Sommers; sons: Mike Stice, Jae Forschen, James (Tammie) Forschen and Jim (Ruth) Hunsaker; 25 grandchildren, including special grandchildren: Matt Hunsaker, Nicolas Hunsaker, and Dana Stinson; 59 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Revon (Deward) Smith, Mira Loy (Robert) Ott and DeRell Sudweeks. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Reda, Dellis and Leda; brothers: Florris, Elvin and Allen; daughter, Maurine Hunsaker. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at the Jordan Stake Center, 3676 W. 4700 S. Viewings will be held Friday, November 9, 2012, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services.
