Roger Morse

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by loved ones on Monday, November 11, 2024, which, fittingly, was Veteran's Day. Roger was born April 16, 1941, to Vernon and Margaret Morse in Malad, Idaho.

From a young age he was a reliable and hard worker, paying for his own bike and car by the age of 16. He enlisted in the Army in 1962 and served honorably for 3 years. After his time in the service, he attended Boise Junior College, where he met Lynn, the love his life. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1966 and went on to have five "perfect" children. He held a variety of jobs and was always mechanically inclined, becoming an electrician and moving on to specializing in overseeing the total energy turbine systems at a gas company. He worked tirelessly at his jobs and used his many talents to benefit his children with projects on their homes, especially with electrical work. He had an amazing memory with a true affinity for learning and sharing interesting tidbits.

Roger loved all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and golfing with family. He loved all sports but favored soccer, pool, racquetball, skiing, snowmobiling, and shooting. *Not a big fan of pickleball.* As an avid reader he could often be found drinking a Pepsi and reading at the dining room table. He was always so supportive of any event his children and grandchildren were part of, including soccer, basketball, softball, band, choir, and orchestra events. Most of his children were able to have him coach a soccer team or two, which was very memorable. His commitment to supporting his children was unparalleled and exemplified by the many hours spent running early-morning practices before work and evening practices after work, often on the same days. His devotion to his kids cannot be doubted when you add in the countless hours he spent attending games and traveling to tournaments across the country.

Dad's love of music cannot be overstated. He dabbled in playing the clarinet and piano early in his life but adored listening to his kids play the piano. This appreciation for music was ingrained in him by his mother Margaret who filled their home with music as an accomplished pianist and organist. Dad absolutely loved watching his children and grandchildren performing in various choirs and orchestra concerts. It was a particularly tender memory for us that, even in his last years, he would typically find his way to wherever he heard his grandkids singing.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings; his favorites always involved the Scouting and Young Men's programs, especially when his boys were part of them. He enjoyed cleaning the ward house and serving at the church cannery. His boys have vivid memories of helping him at the Stake Welfare Farm working with cows and other farm chores.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Lynn "Tiger" Morse; children Diane (Brandon) Behrens, Tom (Heather) Morse, Jim Morse, Paula (Steve) Silvester, and Greg (Sarah) Morse; grandchildren Ethan (Mikayla) Morse, Emma Morse, Ellee Morse, Elijah Morse, Everly Morse; Brooke (Josh) Matson, Nate (Maddi) Behrens, Emily Behrens; Jacob Silvester, Avery Silvester, Morgan Silvester; Aubrey Morse, Mariah Morse, Hannah Morse, and siblings Rena Nelson (sister), Rodney (Julie) Morse, and Helen (Robert) Chase. 

Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 170 N Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held that same morning at the same location from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah.
