Ronald Glen Rawlings, 72, passed away November 14, 2016 at the City Creek Nursing Home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born March 31,1944 at the Budge Hospital in Logan, Utah. He was the son of Glen Sorensen and Mable Rogers Rawlings. He was the eldest of 5 children. He grew up on his Grandpa Rawlings' farm in Fairview, Idaho where he learned to work and enjoyed being on the farm. He attended grade school in a two story brick school house in Fairview and then graduated from Preston High School in Preston, Idaho. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called to servea mission to Norway and finished his mission to the Gulf States. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho for one year and then in 1969 he moved to Salt Lake City and attended Stevens-Henager's Business College. From 1971 to 1992 he was employed at the McDonald & Maxfield Candy Company. In 1992, he married Rosemary Jecuso in the Salt Lake Temple. They later divorced. He spent most of his life in the Salt Lake area and enjoyed the LDS Wards and Branches there. He served in a Branch Presidency at the Holy Cross Hospital, in a Ward Sunday School Presidency and as a Stake Missionary. Ronald was also involved in the Republican Party politics for the state of Utah for a few years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Also by his grandparents, Henry H. Rawlings and Theresa H Sorensen Rawlings; Nephi Noah Rogers and Charlotte Amelia Van Orden Rogers. Ronald is survived by his siblings, Dwight Rawlings (Brenda) of Montrose, Colorado; Marilyn Rawlings of Preston, Idaho; Ken Rawlings (Denice) of Arimo, Idaho and DeAnn Avery (Richard) of Sunset, Utah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ronald had a cheerful attitude and loved to visit with people. He will be missed by his family and many friends he made over the years. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, Utah, with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Fairview, Idaho at 3:30 p.m. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff and residents at the City Creek Nursing Home for their many years of loving care and support towards Ronald.
