Ronald Garn 1941 ~ 2012 Ronald Kent Garn, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, August 30, 2012. Ron was born November 27, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Annetta Moffitt and James Ronald Garn. He spent his childhood in Utah. At 17 he joined the US Air Force and eventually was stationed at Elmendorf Air Base in Alaska. His years in Alaska helped foster his lifelong love of all things outdoors. He was happiest when he was camping and fishing, and loved to get in his truck and drive. He also had a passion for America s National Parks. Ron and Suellen spent their married life exploring the beauty of Utah as well as visiting all of the National Parks they could, taking road trips that took them from California to Maine. Ron was proud to be a carpenter by trade and worked most of his life in the construction industry. His last position was as a Superintendent doing primarily tenant improvement for Keller Construction. After his retirement in 2003, he continued to work part time for Keller and work on wood projects at home. His last project was rebuilding the deck at his West Valley home with his closest buddy, Wayne. Ron is survived by his wife, Suellen; sons Rodney, Keith (Marli), Matt (Kristina), Michael, and Paul (Joelle); 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings Kathy (Robert), Rick (Yvonne), Gene (Janey), Brad (Sharon), Luanne, Dave (Pam) and Curtis (Mayla); and his friend of 35 years, Wayne Gallagher. Preceded in death by his parents; brother Mark; and brother-in-law Roy Jensen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 21st Ward, 5780 South 4270 West.
