Ronald James Masserant (Papa)
Ronald James Masserant was born to Gladys Idella Frabbie and Curtis August Masserant in Monroe, Michigan on May 5, 1937, and passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024.
He was a devoted husband to Eufemia Payton and an amazing son in law to Rosabell Jaramillo. He was also an amazing step dad and Papa to many.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law Rosabell, his beloved wife Eufemia, one grandchild, and many other dear family members and friends.
He is survived by family, friends, and neighbors who all loved him.
Papa, you will be profoundly missed by all whose lives you touched. We could always count on you, whether it was visiting Nana and supporting her, taking Mom to countless doctor appointments, driving across the valley to take us to Catholic School, attending the girls' gymnastics meets, hiding Easter eges too high for us to reach, giving us special Valentine's gifts every year, or repairing something around the house.
Preparing delicious steak dinners every Sunday was just one of the many ways you expressed your love for us. You loved food, cooking, and feeding people a delicious homemade meal. It always put a smile on your face. The memories you created will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Your love and support shaped us into who we are today.
We are deeply saddened by your departure but find comfort in knowing you are now reunited with Eufemia, the love of your life.
Ron was passionate about building and construction, working as a project supervisor on major plants, including Kraft Foods, DiGiorno, and 3M. He also enjoyed sports, especially golfing , in his spare time. You could often find him practicing his swing with a new club in the backyard.
His talent for building and fixing things was remarkable. Ron built decks and sheds. He installed full sprinkler systems, remodeled homes, and proudly recounted the story of building his first home in Michigan with his own hands. No job was too daunting for Ron. He thrived on the challenge of solving problems.
You were our dad, our grandpa, our mentor, and our friend. Your legacy is a testament to your incredible life, and you will never be forgotten. Thank you for loving and supporting us through every high and low.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 27th, at noon at The Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the University of Utah, and especially to the staff at Aspen Ridge West, for their compassionate care and for dancing with Papa one last time.
