Ronald Wayne Nelson born on August 27, 1950, in Twin Falls, Idaho. Passed away January 5 in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his loved ones.
Ron was still active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survived by his wife, Sydney, his children, Holly (Stephen Max), Ronda, Lori, Russell (Tiffene) and grandchildren, Sarah, Justice, Ethan, Jacob, Serena, Emily, and Mitchell. Siblings Blaine (Ginger), Lester (Mary), Jerry (Debbie), and Paula (Jim). Preceded in death by his parents Wayne & Veda and brother Michael.
In junior high and high school Ron played the string bass in orchestra. In high school he was a sharpshooter in the ROTC program. He served a mission in Sacramento, California in 1969. He became a prison guard at a prison in California, where he later became the fire chief. He was a Scout Leader where he took the Wood Badge course twice.
Later in life, he loved making others smile by performing as a clown. He enjoyed creating balloon art and using animals in his magical acts. He was a skilled leather worker and often made belts and wallets for his family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Salt Lake 19th Ward, 500 North 225 West, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service at the church, 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park.
