Jesse D. Greathouse Sr. "I Did it My Way" Our dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and hero, Jesse Delbert Greathouse Sr., passed away peacefully at home November 24, 2013. Jesse was born April 10, 1926 in Magna, Utah to Oscar Willis and Alice Anna Cook Greathouse. Married Shirley Lestell Fairbourne August 26, 1949. Dad was a proud veteran joining the military in 1944 where he served in action as a Paratrooper in Japan and the Philippines through 1950, followed by service in the Reserves. He loved the great outdoors and shared his knowledge of boating, fishing, water skiing and hunting with his children and all who wanted to learn. He had a passion for gambling and flying and combined the two hobbies every chance he could. Jesse and Shirley loved to dance together and could be found on the ballroom and square dance floors all over America. His contagious smile and jovial personality touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will truly be missed! Survived by son, Jesse D. (Kelcey) Greathouse Jr., South Jordan; daughter, Kathy Greathouse Conduff, Austin, TX; Carol Ann Greathouse Perera (Quinn Hardcastle), West Valley City; Lynne (Larry) Moultrie, Mesquite, NV; son-in-law, Scott Maxwell; numerous foster children; grandchildren: Jesse, Joe, Jared, Marci, Margaret, Phillip, Hanna, Shayla, Miranda, Tammy and Traci; 11 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Van Dam. Preceded in death by wife, Shirley; daughter, Mary Alice; son, Lynn Ralph; son-in-law, Bob Conduff; sister, Lillian Maxwell; brother, Elmer "Ed". Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, 12:00 noon at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where viewings will be held Friday, November 29, 2013, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
