Royce Wallace Staley

October 9, 1932 — August 3, 2018

Royce Wallace Staley (85) peacefully returned home to his Heavenly Father on August 3, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Royce was born alongside his twin sister Joyce on October 9, 1932 to Wallace Harvey Staley and Lucille Challis Shrives in Franklin, ID. In his childhood Royce developed a love for mischief and was involved in many escapades throughout his youth. One of which landed him a lump of coal in his stocking for Christmas and many others left tales to tell for generations to come. Amongst his mischief, Royce developed a talent for the yo-yo and could do any trick you asked him to do. Royce was involved in and loved the scouting program where he earned his Ranger Badge. In his early adulthood Royce enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Korea as a Cryptologist. Following his service in the Air Force, Royce returned to Idaho where he met and married his beloved wife Edna Barton of 62 years. He loved to joke about their meeting and told many funny variations of their love story. Together they had three children. Royce went on to become a member of the Boilermakers Local 182 Union where he worked as the Union President and Assistant Business Agent. After retiring, Royce drove a school bus for Granite School District. He loved working with the many children and parents he came into contact with throughout the years. Some of which stay in contact with him to this day. Royce loved to spend time in the outdoors camping, snowmobiling, and riding his four wheeler. He lived to tease anyone he came into contact with and always had the funniest and most witty responses to any question he was asked. Royce was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved interacting with the many members of his ward family throughout the years. He had a strong love for the Lord and was always helping others in need, doing whatever was necessary. He is survived by his wife Edna; children Kenneth Staley (Stacey), Michelle Bateman, Roger Staley (Serena); brother Robert Staley (Diane); 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; twin sister Joyce Strickley; great-granddaughter Nicolle Staley; and son in law Kristopher Bateman.
