Born September 24, 1926 in Toquerville, Utah to Belle Hammond and Henry Bringhurst. She was raised in and loved Toquertown and the people there. Attended Hurricane High School where she was involved in many musical productions, was the drum majorette, and fell in love with her eternal partner-to-be, Wes Hardy. They were married July 22, 1944 in the St. George Temple. During WWII, while Wes was in the service, she worked on turkey farms and railroads, in cafe s and porcelain factories. When Wes returned they ran a successful masonry business with Ruth keeping the books and records of the company. They often had a friend or relative boarding with them that Ruth would take care of. She served an LDS building mission with Wes and their children, building chapels in Calgary Canada and Rexburg (Lyman) Idaho, where she was mother to many missionaries. She served in the Relief Society, many other church callings, and directed many choirs. Ruth loved music and was especially fond of Barbershop music. She had perfect pitch and played many of her favorite tunes, familiar and new, by ear. She served as president of the local Sweet Adelines barbershop chapter and competed nationally in quartets and choirs. She sang opera, and while at Dixie College, gave a wowing performance as the lead in Gypsy Love . If it had to do with music, Ruth was involved with it. We know she continues her singing.
