Ruth Wescott 1923 ~ 2013 Ruth Frances (Kono) Tarter Wescott was born on July 14, 1923 in Vallejo, CA. She died on her 90th birthday, July 14, 2013 in Sandy Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Fred (Pop) Wescott on December 30, 2005. They married on July 20, 1941 and were sealed for time and all eternity on March 8, 1958. She is survived by 4 children: Merrilee Ruth Swickard (Ronald) of Harlowton, MT; Donald Fred Wescott (Lynette) of Layton, UT; David Lloyd Wescott (Paula) of Rexburg, ID; and Julie Ann Archer (Michael) of Sandy, UT. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. When her children were older, she embarked on her quest for higher education. She first had to learn to drive and then successfully completed her college degree leading to a very rewarding teaching career in both California and Utah. She subsequently received her master s degree in the fields of counseling and special education. Ruth had a great love of life and met many wonderful people in her travels. She loved singing, dancing, gardening, swimming, and hiking. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities including 6 Senior Missions with her life s companion. Many thanks to Silver Pines Senior Community, Atria Assisted Living, Sandy Health and Rehab, and Tender Care Hospice for their love and assistance over the last few years of her life. A viewing will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, 9:30 AM at the LDS Chapel, 2180 East Meadowlark Way (9020 S.) Sandy, UT with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home, Taylorsville, UT. Interment and grave dedication will follow at Elysian Burial Gardens.
