Ruth Shulsen Young passed away April 7, 2015. She was born May 4, 1922. Her parents were Arthur Hyrum and Ethel Spencer Shulsen. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1940. Married Sharp Young June 25, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as literature teacher for seven years in Relief Society, editor of the West Jordan 1st Ward newsletter and as a visiting teacher for 47 years with her companion, Virginia Petersen. Mom had many talents including painting and gardening. She would start planning her garden in January after receiving the Burpee Seed catalogue in the mail the day after Christmas. She loved to read books and stories out loud to her children and grandchildren. Survived by 4 children: Monty (Shirley), David, Marianne, and Michael Young; sister, Viola Shulsen Egbert; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, Sharp; brother, Clifford Shulsen. A special thanks to the staff of the Lodge at Jordan River who were so kind and caring to Mom. "Until we meet again ~ we love you, Mom" Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
