Sam Alton McCall

August 8, 1935 — September 8, 2014

Sam Alton McCall, 79, passed away peacefully in Sandy, UT. He worked diligently to provide for his seven children, served God by dedicating his time and talents to temple work, and his pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Raised in Ogden, UT by his parents Alton Conrad McCall and Lydia Clara Gertsch, He held great respect and love for his mother, Lydia, throughout his life. After retiring from MagCorp, Sam devoted time to his hobbies, including golfing, square dancing, and spoiling his grandchildren. Most recently Sam spent as much time as possible with his bright blue-eyed smile, serving God in the temple and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren run around, play and visit. His children, Traci, Richard, Ty, Kristy, Melony, Sam and Russell, 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, are comforted to know Sam is once again vitally engaged on the other side of the veil and reunited with his beloved mother. The family feels deep gratitude to compassionate friends, neighbors, LDS Mingo branch family, and medical personnel who helped them care for Sam over the past months and years. Better than flowers in Sam's memory would be contributions to the Temple Patron Assistance Fund. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South. A viewing will be held Friday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
