Sammy Felix Barbiero was born October 24, 1951 in Holy Cross Hospital and passed away after a short illness involving pneumonia, February 3, 2016. Sammy's health had deteriorated over the past 10+ years and he could no longer carry on the fight. His loving parents were Rose & Saverio Barbiero. Sammy was an accomplished athlete during his high school (Granite High School) and college years and even after - he played football, basketball, soccer, baseball, racquetball he was known to be a fierce competitor when it came to sports. He enjoyed photography, gardening, and most of all keeping his ducks in a row' fishing. As a youngster he worked with his Dad, Saverio, in his dry cleaning business, he was always ready to help his Aunt Rita Constanzo with her cooking - benefits of being the first to taste what she created, and he was always a loyal friend to many. At one point in his life he also worked with his Uncle Max - who he always referred to as "the Boss". Sam was known to be a hard worker but more than willing to kick back and tease whenever the chance arose. He worked for and retired from, Consolidated Freightways (CF), after 30 years and the closing of the business. He worked on the dock and eventually became a hostler (hooked and unhooked trucks and trailers). He enjoyed the many friendships he made during those years. Sammy is survived by his wife Catherine, his daughter Sara (Nick Workman), grandson Christian, sister Virginia (Otis Hembre) their children (Saverio, Loretta, and Ashley) and Grandchildren; and numerous wonderful relatives and cousins.
