Sandra Durrant

June 26, 1950 — April 22, 2025

Sandra was born on June 26, 1950, in Murray, Utah to Arthur Joseph Durrant III,and Anne Noorda Durrant.

Sandy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Sandy grew up in Murray and later moved with her family to West Valley City (Granger when she lived there) and graduated from Granger High School. She attended school after high school graduation where she earned her bachelor's degree and teaching certificate. Later she went back to Utah State University and earned her master's degree.

She was always curious about people, places, and things; that is why she pursued a career as a teacher. She loved learning, and teaching gave her the opportunity to explore -- with inquisitive young minds -- about people, places, and things, teaching but also learning from her students, many that were from different backgrounds, places, and customs. She loved each one of her students, even those who struggled. She loved when she could see the light of knowledge shine from them, and she knew that she had made a difference.

Sandy loved to not just learn of places but to experience them as well. She loved to travel to far off places; her favorite trip was to China. Visiting the Great Wall of China was the highlight of her traveling.

Sandy's biggest love was her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, and loved working with others, preferably in small settings. She was always a little shy, but when given the opportunity she would talk for hours.

Sandy is survived by her sister Carol George, brothers, Wayne (Lynn) Durrant, Dennis (Lorraine) Durrant, David Durrant, Dean Durrant (known by many as Bon), and many nieces and nephews that she loved, and that loved her.

She was preceded in death by both her parents - Arthur and Anne Durant, brother Boyd Durrant, sister Linda Durrant, and sister-in-law Anne Durrant.
