Sandy Lee Shepard Burnside, 67, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Murray, UT from complications due to Huntington's Disease. Sandy was born February 22, 1950 in Murray, UT, to Richard Jackson Shepard and June Snarr Shepard who preceded her in death. She went on to graduate from Murray High School in 1968. On November 3, 1985 Sandy married Charles Mitchell Burnside. He spent some time chasing her, but finally won her over with his cooking. They were later married and sealed to their children in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She had many jobs and retired from South Valley School after more than a decade working with special needs students. Sandy loved spending time with family. She also loved to read, drink Diet Coke, enjoy treats, and watch Jeopardy & Days of Our Lives. She was an avid quilter. She was a hard worker and always had to stay busy. She never let you leave her house hungry. She was a fighter surviving stage four cancer 20 years ago. Although Sandy had Huntington's Disease she didn't complain about her situation or the many battles she faced. Sandy is survived by her husband Charles; and three daughters: JorJa (Jacob) Mattson, KayCee Burnside, Chalice (Blake) Whitney; with a grandbaby girl on the way; a stepdaughter, Brooke Burnside; along with 5 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers; father in law; and many other family and friends. The family would like to thank the loving care she received in her last years at Willow Wood Care Center, and many family and friends who have helped in her care. Sharon, thank you for always keeping her happy with treats. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church building, 5980 South 1300 West, Taylorsville, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, March 17th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again Saturday prior to services at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
