Scott Corey Woodcox

Scott Corey Woodcox passed from this life peacefully at his home in Sandy, Utah on August 1, 2018 after a valiant 28-year battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). Scott was born on April 12, 1961 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He spent his youth enjoying the outdoors of sparsely populated Wyoming with his parents and siblings, where he learned to hike, camp, hunt, and fish. Scott was a good athlete, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduating from high school, Scott served in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon his return from the Netherlands, Scott studied Petroleum Engineering and graduated with a bachelor-of-science degree from the University of Wyoming. Scott worked in Salt Lake City, Utah and Farmington, New Mexico for Northwest Pipeline as a petroleum engineer. He continued in this profession until the MS symptoms made it impossible for him to perform his day-to-day duties. Whereupon he retired and started his second profession as an outdoor photographer. Despite his physical limitations, Scott photographed nature in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Katmai national parks, as well as excursions to Churchill, Manitoba and Tanzania, Africa. His photographic portfolio is extensive and impressive. Scott married his soulmate, LaDena Lichliter on July 31, 2010. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Draper Temple. Through the years, LaDena realized that Scott was very proud of his roots, and she commented often that "you can take the boy out of Wyoming, but you can't take the Wyoming out of the boy!" Scott was preceded in death by his parents Harry Paul Woodcox and Marilyn Avryl Corey. He is survived by his wife LaDena; sister Susan Hill (Jim); brothers David (Becky), Terry (Debbie), and Bryan (Kathy). A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Rd from 6 pm to 8 pm. Additionally, there will be a viewing at the Hillcrest Stake Center, 8485 South 1000 East, Monday, August 6, 2018 from 9:30 am to 10:45 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am.
