Scott Franklin Newton Grandpa Husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012. Scott was born May 27, 1920 and raised in Hunter, Utah and spent his youth working on the family farm in Hunter and on their sheep ranch in Chalk Creek, Utah. After graduation from Cyprus High School, Scott traveled to California to try his hand in the printing business, but soon returned to Utah to marry his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine Rhodes, also of Hunter, Utah, on June 30, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Scott entered the family livestock business, the Hyrum J. Newton & Sons Sheep Co.,working with brothers, Ralph and Eugene, and their father. He learned the value of hard work which became his trademark throughout his life. Following Geraldine s death in 2001, Scott married Zola Harman. We are forever grateful for the love and companionship Zola gave to Dad. He was the youngest of eight children including Jim (Bertha), Florence (Marion Ben ) Bentine, Virginia (Thomas) Burke, Eugene (Edna), Steven (Elizabeth), Ralph (Bessie), and George (Maxine). He loved each of his brothers and sisters dearly and his love for his parents was limitless. He visited his mother everyday except when he was with the livestock in Chalk Creek or on the West Desert. Scott and Geraldine s three children, and their spouses, Susan and Paul Gareis, Gilroy, California; David and Lori, Lehi, Utah; and Frank and Jean, West Valley City; were the recipients of much love and affection, but he truly loved his 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
