Shanelle Casper, 37, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, one day prior to her 38th birthday. Heavenly Father called his angel back home and she was welcomed by her father, Keith C Casper among other family members and friends. Nellie, a.k.a. Scallywag, The Kid, Little Miss Muffet, Nelly Belly, and Sweets was born September 13, 1979 to Keith C and Rhea Casper in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born with a rare chromosomal disorder, Pallister-Killian Syndrome, which caused numerous physical and mental challenges but did not dampen her pure heart and sweet spirit. She will be remembered for: giving neck-breaking hugs or shove-aways, crossing her legs, showing off her tummy, kicking or teasing her loved ones, collecting crazy socks, giving giant raspberries, and playingone particular melody on her guitar. Shanelle attended Hartvigsen School until the age of 22. While at Hartvigsen, she became the unsinkable Nellie, walking across the pool floor while her body weight was supported, and she participated in the Special Olympics (winning both silver and gold medals in bowling, with her high score of 192). Nellie then attended Turn Community Services Adult Day Care program until her death, encroaching her way into everyone's heart. Many caretakers entered her life along the way, too many to mention in the limited space here. We are so grateful for their care and all are loved and appreciated. Shanelle is survived by her mother; siblings: KC (Teresa) Casper, Lori (Steve) O'Hara, Tiffany (Jared) Quilter, Charlie (Milena) Casper; nieces: Jessica, Inessa, Clarissa, Melody, Livia; nephews: William, Erik, Mylo, Robert, Kalel; and furry friends: Stormy, Star, Luna, Nutmeg, and Frosty. Her Father could be seen Saturdays grocery shopping at Harmon's with Nellie and shopping cart in tow and never forgot to stop at the Deli for an ice cream until his passing in 2007. Nellie is also preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; a brother (Alex); a nephew (Alexander); and other beloved extended family.
