We are saddened to announce that our beautiful wife, mother, sister, friend, and teacher, Sherry Berry, passed away Saturday after a difficult battle with a very rare disease, Severe Aplastic Anemia.
She fought a good fight for several years, but the last 3 ½ months were just too much for her. She spent most of that time hospitalized. In her final week, we knew the end was near due to the complications that started arising. A combination of pneumonia and sudden onset Encephalopathy was just too much for her.
She passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
Sherry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
When she was growing up, she couldn't get enough of it, and would go to libraries to find books about the Gospel.
Most of her life in Church service was spent teaching the youth. One of her first callings was a Junior Sunday School teacher while she was still in high school. This continued through most of her life. To paraphrase a Primary song: "Sherry loved the little children".
Sherry married her high school sweetheart, Robert. They were sealed later in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated 55 years of marriage in December.
Sherry is survived by her husband Robert, their four daughters, Melissa Bone (Jerry), Jennifer Shand (Michael), Julie May (Joseph), and Sarah Ruesch (Chad). They have 15 wonderful grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, one of whom arrived the same day as Sherry's passing. She is also survived by her three sisters, Judy St. John (Glen), Lynda Stowe (Floyd), and Patricia Mecham (George), and her brother Steven Johnson (Gayle).
The family would like to thank all of those who have sent condolences. We would also like to thank the Hematology Wing at Huntsman Cancer Center. We would also like to thank Dr. Srinivas Tantravahi for trying so hard to give us a better outcome.
We know that we shall see Sherry again, and that she will be resurrected and receive her perfect body with Spirit united.
Viewing will be held Saturday, June 8th from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the Taylorsville South Stake Center located at 3495 West 4850 South, Taylorsville Utah. The funeral will follow at 12:00. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park at 2:00 PM
