Emblem

We are sad to announce the passing of Sinamar Alos Robianes Tabin of West Valley City. She died at age 78 on April 24, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a teacher, a Boy Scout leader, a loving mother, a faithful wife, a friend, and a most loving and gentle soul to all those who knew her.

Sinamar was born in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, on April 20, 1945. She was an elementary school teacher in Quirino Elementary School from 1976 to 1996, and was a loving mother and teacher to her children and all her students over the years. She was a longtime member of the Ilokano Translation and Interpretation team for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is a long and awarded freelance writer in the Ilokano, Tagalog and English languages. She started writing in her high school (Bangui Provincial High school) and had a lifelong love of literature and the language. She was a writer on the Normalite Bulletin, the school organ of the Northern Luzon Teacher's College where she graduated BSEEd. She authored and published dozens of short stories, novelettes, poems, and feature articles in the Bannawag Magazine. She was a lifetime member of the GUMIL Filipinas, an organization of Ilokano writers from the Philippines, and was also one of the founders of TMI Global (a global organization of Ilokano writers). She received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Literature from TMI Global, given to her on May 29, 2010.

Sinamar had a strong testimony of the Gospel. She served in various callings in Church, such as Stake Relief Society 1st Counselor, Ward Relief Society President, and in Primary Organization. She also served as a Temple worker for many years. Her strong faith and dedication to her callings and love of the Gospel inspired her family and other people. A very faithful, loving, thoughtful, generous and kindhearted wife, mother and friend. We will surely miss her.

Sinamar was married to Lorenzo Garcia Tabin for 53 years. They were inseparable and were a great example of love to their children and their friends. They were blessed with seven children. She is survived by her husband and five of her children, Loumarie (Glen), Lorenzo, Naomi (Richard), Sinamar (Nathan), and Marlo (Marcella); her nine grandchildren, Lorimar, Enoka, Job, LeGrand, Lindsay, Brigham, Bridget, Gabriel, and Serena; by her sisters, Milagros Andres, Grace (Marcelo) Baay, and Salvacion Aliga, and her sister-in-law Milagrina Baradi.
