Spencer Caleb Engle, age 43, died on or about August 27, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was found August 29, 2023. To family and friends, he was affectionately known as Caleb.
Caleb was born November 16, 1979, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Eldean Roy Engle and Lynette Engle. He was the fourth of five children. Caleb was a gifted child, with natural talents for art and causing mischief. As a promising young artist, he received a scholarship to a prestigious art school in Salt Lake City, Utah. Caleb also loved pranks, which his family can confirm. Caleb played soccer and was in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed family camping trips, family gatherings, and hunting trips with his father (except for receiving a certain black eye from a rifle scope).
Caleb was baptized in and raised a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was ordained as a deacon within the Aaronic Priesthood. He desired to serve a mission for the church, but was unable to do so in this life, but hopefully is now in the hereafter.
Sadly, Caleb struggled to fit in with those around him, except with those who were a bad influence on him. Caleb struggled with his difficulties in life, including addictive drugs and schizophrenia. He battled his demons as best he could, and never lost his love for his family, expressing his love often to his family members.
Caleb is survived by his loving parents and step-mother Ellen, as well as siblings: Melissa (spouse: Mate), Joshua, Melanie, and Adam (spouse: Camber), as well as nieces: Madison and Ashley; and nephews: Trenton (spouse: Mary), Derek, Zac, Benjamin and Filip.
