Stan Thacker, age 68, passed away from complications of open heart surgery on January 12, 2018. Born on April 6, 1949 in Price,Utah to Howard LeRoy and Lela Mott Thacker. After High School, he became a member of the Dance Team at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor degree in Nursing. He proudly passed the nursing certification in the top ten every year thereafter. Stan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an honorable full-time Northern States Mission. He became an Emergency Room Nurse at Holy Cross Hospital/Salt Lake Regional Hospital for thirty-five years. He completed his career at the VA Hospital until his retirement in March 2013. He has enjoyed lasting friendships with many of the staff members. Stan was a fun-loving guy whose interests included music, works of art, traveling the world, dancing, gardening, cooking and having a great time. He was positive, kind and considerate a friend to all. His beloved dog "Missy" is considered a family member. He spent hours studying his ancestors and family history and researching his family tree. He loved collecting family heirlooms. Stan is survived by his partner Terry Whipple; brother Lonnie Thacker; sisters, Thelda Wimmer, Arbra (David) Wall, Nedra (Carey) Seal; numerous nieces and nephews who adore him. Preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and brother, Billy. Services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, UT. A graveside service will be held on Saturday January 20, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Price City Cemetery in Price, Utah.
