Stella Ann Winn Lambourne

July 1, 1934 — April 16, 2016

Stella Ann Lambourne, our beautiful, amazing, unselfish, generous, thoughtful, smart, determined and overall one of the finest individuals we have ever met, passed away April 16, 2016. Though our hearts are broken, we are thankful that she has finally been released from her physical anguish and is free to run and dance. Mom was born July 1, 1934 in Salt Lake City to Ernest Raymond and Stella Alberta Winn. She grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from West High School. Mom married her main man Dan Kenner Lambourne on July 1, 1953 (her 19th birthday) and together they raised five children. She is survived by four children, Rick (Cathy) Lambourne, Daneen (Dennis) Toombs, Lori (Randy) Christiansen and Nancy (Kirt) Taylor. She is also survived by barkers, Linus and Kairi. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan, only 5 months ago; her daughter Sherrie; granddaughter, Amber; her parents; her brothers, Norman and Dennis; and many friends. Mom was always making new friends. She said she had to because so many of her friends had passed onto the other side. Dennis was her new best friend. Mom had a big heart, particularly for children. She was always donating to something. Dad was never surprised to find out they had contributed something to someone that was in need. Mom taught us a lot. She taught us to drive, (some better than others) to play poker, sing silly songs, love old movies, vote for the underdog, be nice and always be grateful. Mom was a source of sunshine and a room would be brighter with her in it. She never complained. She made the best of any situation. When she was young with polio, she would stand on the corner with her brother, Dennis and strangers would feel bad and give her money for ice cream cones. Mom had a fondness for pizza, pork and beans, hard boiled eggs, ice cream cones (just the cones), Hershey's chocolate bars and pinwheels. Mom loved the gospel, her 21 grandchildren, soon to be 28 great-grandchildren, Perry Mason, racing in her jazzy, shoes (even if she couldn't wear them) and springtime. Her favorite thing was long car rides. If you went for a ride with mom it was not unusual to end up in another state. She always took the long way home, even in leaving mortality. Mom detested Sonobella commercials, fish frys, cold weather, mean people and vegetables. She would throw them away when we weren't looking. (The vegetables not the people.) Per her request, there will be a graveside service Friday, April 22nd, 1:00 p.m., at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 South, with a viewing from 11:00am-12:17pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Wear what you want but mom liked pink and red. Pajamas are ok! The family would like to thank two of her most excellent friends, Dr. John R. Dietlein, the best doctor ever and Ruth Jackson, her nurse that went above and beyond her job as caregiver and will always be considered a dear friend. Mom, "you are our sunshine."
