Stephen Dale Greenwood, age 44, of Taylorsville, Utah, unexpectedly passed away on March 17, 2015. He was born to Jimmie Green Towery and the late Richard Dean Greenwood in 1970 in San Jose, California. Stephen graduated from Saratoga High School in 1988 and honorably served a two-year mission in Quito, Ecuador for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He double-majored in biology and chemistry and graduated suma cum laude from University of Utah in 1997. In 2004, he earned a degree in medicine from the University of California Los Angeles School of Medicine. On June 12, 2004, Stephen married Jessica Lynn Jones. They shared a life together in Taylorsville, Utah before divorcing in the summer of 2014. Over the past several years, Stephen traveled regularly to Peru with Corazones con Esperanza to participate in medical and humanitarian mission work. Stephen, like his father, was highly skilled with computer technologies and worked as a Project Manager for Journal Technologies in Logan, Utah up until his death. Stephen was fiercely loyal, overwhelmingly generous, and relentlessly humorous. He is survived by his mother, Jimmie Green Greenwood of San Jose, California; and four siblings: Sherry Simpson of Tenerife, Spain; Christopher Greenwood of Genola, Utah; Felicia Lucero of Los Altos, California; and Vanessa Domine of Bloomfield, New Jersey. Stephen is predeceased by his father, Richard Dean Greenwood of San Jose, California; and his brother, Wayne Simpson, of Hammond, Louisiana. A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015, 6-8:00 pm at the Taylorsville Valley Park 5th Ward, 2603 West 4700 South, Taylorsville, UT.
