Steven Hathaway

Our valiant brother Steven L Hathaway [56] returned home to his Heavenly Father Tuesday March 7, 2023. He was born August 6, 1966 to Nelda Sophia Benson and her husband Clifford Richard Hathaway. Steven joined 8 brothers and sisters: Mareen, Marsha, Nancy, Benson, Cheyrl, Deborah, Richard, and Connie.

Steven lived his life with honor and fought courageously throughout. He was a gregarious, cheerful individual who respected and appreciated everyone and everything. He was conscientious, observant and had the ability to offer sage advice. He quietly supplied Santa gifts to families in his neighborhood.

Steven was a bright baby and spoke early, and quickly began questioning adults and sharing his views. Due to his warm outgoing nature, he was chosen in 1969 to be a poster child for the March of Dimes.

Steven graduated from Murray High School in 1984. He worked various jobs to support himself, He enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, gardening and sharing his harvest with family and friends. He loved the time spent with his two older brothers; [Ben and Richard] going fishing and to wrestling matches.

Throughout the years he consistently amazed his doctors with his survival. Steven, due to his mother's influence through his many hospitalizations, became a fan of the music she grew up on.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his brother Benson and many aunts and uncles. He leaves behind his Aunt Reta Depue; six sisters and brother Richard and their spouses; eight nieces, 6 nephews and their spouses and families.

Steve hated to be late so with great love we send him home.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023 ~ 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Park Ward Building, 5750 South Nena Way with a viewing 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

Interment, Murray City Cemetery, 5600 South Vine Street.
