Steve L. Howick

1953 - 2025

It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve L. Howick, of West Valley City, age 72. He passed away peacefully while sleeping in his home on March 18, 2025. He was born on March 5, 1953, to S. Boyd Howick and Darlene Andrus. He grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and attended Kearns High School.

During his teen years, Steve and his friends would make the long trek on their bikes from Kearns to the Great Salt Lake. Spending summer days enjoying the lake. He also enjoyed learning to hunt with his father and brother Kevin.

In 1972 he married Melanie Mantle and started a family, later divorced.

Steve then married his "Brown Eyed Girl" Corinne on June 10, 2000. Together they made a wonderful life combining their families and sharing many wonderful memories. She cared for him diligently during his final days.

Steve retired as a lithographer, with most of his career being spent at Publishers Press for more than 25 years.

Steve was an avid sports fan, faithfully following the "Lovable Losers" The Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed watching the Cubs Win the World Series in 2016 after a 108-year drought. He was also a Utah Utes football fan and spent many years cheering them on as a season ticket holder. Steve was rarely seen without a Cubs or Utes hat.

He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports, he wouldn't hesitate to stop by the local ball fields to catch a game. He also enjoyed watching boxing and reading The Ring magazine.

Steve greatly enjoyed the outdoors, with some of his best days spent at the family cabin in Fairview, Utah. He spent many summers camping and fishing with family and friends at Strawberry Reservoir.

Steve had a sarcastic sense of humor. He was very quick witted with many infamous one-liners. Steve loved music and would always claim to have "seen that band perform live at the Utah State Fair".

Later in life, Steve came to appreciate watching live theater, traveling many places to see his favorite, The Phantom of the Opera, and Corinne's favorite, Les Misérables.
