Steven John Young

Steven J. Young 1957 ~ 2013 Steven John Young left this life September 30, 2013 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born to David Milson and Ila Mary Johnson Young September 14, 1957 in Los Angeles California, the youngest of three children. Steve served an LDS mission to Nashville Tennessee. He married Lorna Heaton in the Salt Lake Temple, later divorced. Together they had four children: Alaric, Alisha (Chris), Bonnie and Bryant with three grandchildren, all whom survive him. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Thera Lancaster, Earl Seegrist, Alan Seegrist, Glen Seegrist, John Seegrist, Scott Seegrist, MerriLynne Braithwaite whom all shared a special bond with Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Carol Joy Seegrist; and brother Dale Mark Young. Steve was a proud member of the Utah Patriot Guard and participated in many events honoring fallen veterans. His patriotism and love for his fellow man was evident in his acts of kindness and service. We offer a special thanks to his friends in the PRG. If you needed cheering up, Steve was the person to call on. He constantly expressed gratitude and helped ease burdens of the down trodden. Perhaps the greatest thing to be said of Steve is that he lived a Christ like life. The family would like to thank those who responded to his accident and provided care for him. There were miracles that day in spite of his passing. We sincerely thank the staff at IMC for their expressions of love, kindness and understanding. THANK YOU! Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2013, 11:00 am at the Rosedale LDS chapel, 1148 West 500 North, Salt Lake City (Rose Park), Utah. Viewings will be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, 6-7:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Midvale City Cemetery.
