Steven P. Larsen

Steven Peart Larsen, 81, passed away peacefully in South Jordan, Utah on December 10, 2018 due to Alzheimer’s and related illnesses.  He was born, the only child, to Benjamin Charles Larsen and Ina Estella Peart Larsen in Logan, Utah.

Steven was raised in Richmond, Utah and attended two years of college at Utah State University, where he met Laurane Gregory.  They were married in the Logan LDS temple on March 18, 1960.  After college, Steven and Laurane moved to Ogden, Utah where he worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) which started his life-long career in data processing.  Following his work with the IRS, Steven spent seven years working for Hercules before moving to Workforce Services, where he retired, as a program analyst for the State of Utah.  Steven and Laurane retired to Hurricane, Utah from 2006 until 2017 when they moved back to Salt Lake City due to Steven’s health.

Steven loved the outdoors and enjoyed his time camping, fishing and hunting.  He was a member of the Holladay Gun Club and spent many hours skeet shooting and duck hunting.  In addition, he loved to boat and ride his 4 wheeler.  His ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren were the light of his life and he referred to them as his “little pups”.

He was preceded in death by Ben and Ina Larsen (parents), Tracy Steven Larsen (son), and Violet Noelle Hawthorne (great-granddaughter).  He is survived by daughter Jacqueline Larsen Cruz Gallegos of Covington, Louisiana, son Mitchel Gregory Larsen (Lori) of Bountiful, Utah, and Patricia Larsen Gonzales (Michael) of Covington, Louisiana.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Sagewood at Daybreak, Sagewood Family Room, 11289 S. Oakmond Rd, South Jordan, Utah.

A special thanks to Jordan, Dr. Holland, and Paige with Comfort Worx Hospice and to Soni and the staff at Sagewood Mt. View who lovingly cared for Steven.  These friends, whom he also called his “pups”.
