Steven Lloyd Sortor 1953 ~ 2012 On August 2, 2012 Steven Lloyd Sortor was granted peace from pain and suffering. He was born in Idaho Falls, August 23, 1953 to Madeline and Darrell Sortor. An exceptional athlete, Steve played basketball at Granger High School, receiving a basketball and track scholarship to CEU where he met his wife, cheerleader Diane Bunnell. Steve and Diane married June 22, 1974 and settled in Taylorsville/ Murray where they raised three sons: Matthew, Andrew, and Samuel. Steve was an involved and loving father- teaching his sons to build, fish, wrestle, barter, rig, tease their mother, and enjoy life. He supported them in their athletic endeavors, spending countless hours watching them play everything from baseball to soccer, basketball, swimming and golf- coaching from the sidelines and occasionally being asked to leave the premises. Steve had an excellent sense of humor and loved to have fun. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations to Lake Powell, camping, fishing in Scofield Reservoir and listening to his collection of laser disks. He worked as a mobile vendor for 36 years in Bountiful, first for Creasy Catering and then Roger s Catering. Because he was such an accepting person, he touched many lives and made many friends. Anyone who knew Steve knew how much he loved his Jets, his granddaughters, and his little dog Cocoa. We will never forget his stubbornness, his enthusiasm, his generosity, his candor, and the way he had of making tense situations and swearwords hilarious. We will miss him always. Steven is preceded in death by his father-Darrell, and his son Matthew. Steven is survived by his mother- Madeline, his wife- Diane, his sons- Andrew (Diana), and Samuel, and his four granddaughters.
