Our beloved father and grandfather, Steven Anthony Vega, age 61, passed away at home on November 26, 2022.
Steven was born September 7,1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Louis E. and Helen Vega. He graduated from Kearns High School in 1979 and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years as a mail-processing clerk. Steve was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was very diligent in his beliefs of the power of prayer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steve was passionate of his love for rock music and was an avid sports fan. Eddie Van Halen and Neil Peart, drummer of Rush were his heroes and even had the honor of meeting Eddie. He loved going to concerts and watching his favorite football team, the Las Vegas Raiders.
To know him was to love him and we will miss his witty sense of humor.
Survived by his soulmate, Josete Batty; his precious "Namba" daughter, Amanda Vega; and grandson, Mason; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Gordon) Tiemeyer; three nephews; and dear cousin, Victoria Mendoza (Gary) Staas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Anthony and Michael.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022, 6-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where we will also pray the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. Graveside services will follow Mass at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U Street, SLC.
A family and friend luncheon will follow at Aunt Anita's Clubhouse located at 3040 S Homecrest St, West Valley City, Utah 84119.
