Susanne Harwood McDonald

March 16, 1963 — July 4, 2017

After a valiant 25-year fight with a malignant brain tumor, Susanne left us on July 4, truly her independence day. We will miss our daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born March 16, 1963, to Don and Marilyn Eckersley Harwood. Susanne was a friend extraordinaire and was happiest spending time with her many friends. She was a hairdresser until the challenges and paralysis due to the tumor made that impossible. She served in the Mississippi Jackson LDS Mission. She was a twice a Relief Society President, served in the Young Women's organization, was a hostess at the LDS Church Office Building, and a temple worker at the Jordan River LDS Temple. She was a member of the National Champion Cyprus High Spinnakers. She was sparking light wherever she went. She loved to dance and we know she is dancing and twirling now that she has escaped her broken body. She is survived by her husband, Gary; mother, Marilyn Harwood; sister, Karen; brothers, Scott (Becky), and Jeff (Lora); and nieces and nephews, Michael, Jennifer, Megan, Parker, Victoria, Samantha, Garrett, Hailey, and McKenna. She was preceded in death by her father, Don C. Harwood. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10th, 11:00 a.m., at the Murray LDS 15th Ward, 5555 S. 700 W. Viewings will be held Sunday, July 9th from 6-8:00 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd., in Taylorsville, and from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the church.
