Suzanne Gale Bennion Parsons came into this world on June 16, 1946. Born to Dale Bennion and Marilyn Gilmore Bennion Schofield. She was raised in a hatchery where she could tell you all about hatching and selling chickens. Her and her brother Jerry were “joined at the hip”. Her other 3 siblings followed, Peggy Schofield Lockhart, Aladdin Bennion, and Vickie Schofield Christensen.
After graduation at Skyline High School, she then advanced schooling to Dixie College where she met her college roommate and lifelong friend Sharlene. At Dixie she also met her eventual husband, Bliss Parsons. They were married in the St. George Temple and together they had three beautiful daughters. Suzanne was very close to her parents, siblings, daughters, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed working in the family businesses both the “Hatchery and Bennion Thermo-Rite”.
Later in life she worked at Chrysalis Enterprises for more than 20 years caring for people with special needs. She was an amazing example of charity. She touched the lives of many with her love, kindness and generosity. She had an incredible gift to help and support all. She lived a life of no judgement and accepting the good in all that she met. Her chuckle in conversations and while playing games with friends and family will forever be imbedded in all who had the privilege of knowing her. She also had a quick wit. In Scrabble, Triominos, Skip-Bo and many other games she typically schooled us all. She bought meals for many and enjoyed her favorite restaurants while spending time with family and friends.
Mom was an incredible listener with insight to each one of us. She opened her home and support to countless others. Her big heart and love for others never faltered. During the past few years, as her health declined many were able to support, love and care for her as she did to them. She had many meals prepared and gifts given. The last few years she lived primarily with her daughters.
After a sudden diagnosis with an aggressive cancer Suzanne passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. The last few weeks many were able to spend precious time with her. We know how much she enjoyed this. She was loved by many. Special thanks to those who visited and the care providers who kept her in comfort and peace.
She is survived by her sisters Peggy (Steve Lockhart) and Vickie (Kit Christensen); brothers Jerry (Verna Bennion) and Aladdin (Susie Bennion); daughters, Melanie (Lance Durfee), Laurie (Dan Oberg) and Trulie (Tracy Farley); 11 grandkids; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
One of her last statements was, “We have had quite an adventure!”
Suzanne, your example of love and kindness carries on and we thank you for all you have taught us.
