Our adored mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Talue Upwall Dean, joyfully returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven and her beloved eternal companion, Mel. Talue was born June 15, 1930 to Norman and Chloe Upwall in Los Angeles, California.
Talue met the “love of her life” while working at Strevell-Paterson Hardware Company. They were engaged in August 1951 at Emigration Canyon on Little Mountain. They were sealed for time and all eternity on February 8, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their family in the house they built on Amherst Avenue. Mom made our house a home. She made sure it was always a special place to come to. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her family.
Mom had a witty sense of humor and loved to laugh. She was patient, always followed through on commitments, a natural caregiver, a good listener and could do anything on a budget. Mom loved holidays and family gatherings. She was a great cook. She made the best potato salad, baked beans, chip dip and chocolate cake. She loved to try new recipes. Mom felt it was very important to stay physically active, for herself and her family. She was a bowler, a mall walker for 20 years, a member of several fitness clubs and a lifelong member of T.O.P.S. Mom loved to travel. She traveled all over the world. She made sure we went on a family vacation every summer. Mom maintained lifelong friendships with couples from the Emerson Ward (her childhood ward), Granger 6th, 7th and 10th Ward. She cherished the new friendships made in Stone Hollow and the Jordan 4th Ward.
Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many Church callings. Mom loved serving in the Jordan River Temple. She lived her testimony of the Gospel.
Talue is survived by her children, Mark(Vickie), Kelly(Keven) and Todd; brother Roger; grandchildren Michael(Annabeth), Jennifer(Isaac), Stacie(Travis), Lesley(Greg), Ryan(Jennifer); great-grandchildren Stockton, Gabriel, Mallory, Jack, Lucy Talue, Elijah, Andrew, I. Harrison, Matthew, Zoë Mae.
Preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart Melvin B. Dean; brother Norman; sister Irene.
Her family thanks so many who have loved and cared for our Mom including, Golden Living Center, SunRidge Assisted Living and her hospice team, AFI Advanced care and especially Aimee and Scott.
