Theresa Grace, age 70, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2024 in Lehi Utah. She was born on April 10, 1954, in Granite City, Illinois to John Washenko, Jr. and Mary Belusko. She was the fifth child of nine children.
Theresa attended St. Mary's grade school in Madison, Illinois and graduated from high school at St. Teresa Academy, East St. Louis, Illinois.
Theresa had a love for music and the singing voice of an angel. She loved to sing. Her favorites were the oldies and church hymns. You would often hear her listening to music and singing along with the songs.
She loved learning and enjoyed traveling.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had a strong testimony of the gospel, and love for our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
She was married to Jerry E. Lassiter of Solon, Ohio and resided in Northfield, Ohio.
She later married Glen Petersen from Riverton, Utah and resided in West Jordan, Utah.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Belusko) Washenko, sister, Mary Ann Stuart (Barry), brother, John A. Washenko (JoAnn Bauers), and nephews, Willis James Marchbanks and Joshua Washenko.
Theresa is survived and will be missed by sisters, Barbara M. Hansen ( Bryant), Geraldine Washenko Green (Nathaniel), Laura Washenko Craig (David), Elizabeth S. Washenko Stern (Ron), Josephine Washenko (Joseph Matthews), and brother Michael G. Washenko (Gail).
She leaves behind 13 nephews and 16 nieces who she loved dearly.
She loved being with all her family, and was always there to help anyone in need. She will be missed by all. We have been richly blessed by Theresa.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 ~ 10-10:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 1945 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah with the memorial service to celebrate Theresa's life to follow beginning at 11:00-12:00 p.m.
At the conclusion of the memorial services, all attendees are invited to gather for the dedication of Theresa's grave at West Jordan City Cemetery located at 7800 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah.
