Thomas (Tom) Stine Baker
Thomas was born January 5, 1933, in Provo, Utah to Thomas Sterling (Stine) Baker & Verona Cluff Baker. He passed away December 31, 2022 after a fall in West Valley, City, Utah. He graduated from Provo High School.
Tom's military service included Master Sergeant in the US Air Force Reserve where he served with distinction in Clearfield, Utah in the Office of Special Investigation. He also served with honor in the United States Navy and was stationed in Phoenix, AZ. and Hickman Field ,HI. during the Korean conflict.
Tom and his wife, Ouida were born again believers in Jesus with their most recent membership at Canyons Church in Midvale, Utah. Tom held various jobs in his life working with Santa Rosa Fire Department, Provo City Fire Department, Wendover Air Field Fire Department, Asst. Chief Hill Air Force Base Fire Department, and Fire Chief at the Hill Field bombing and gunnery test range in Lakeside.
Tom is preceded in death by wife, Ouida June (Goad) Baker; his parents
Stine & Verona Baker, brother Boyd, brother Mike, brother Charles, brother Robert, & sister Barbara. Tom is survived by his 3 children; Lisa, Valerie, & Brian (Liz), brother Kent, sister, Bonny; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry & Ouanda Walton; brother and sister-in-law Andy & Pat Goad; grandchildren; Aubrey, Serenity, Nicholas, Jessica (Wes), Molly (Raymond), Katelyn (Tyler), & 10 great grandchildren.
Tom was a pillar of the Salt Lake running community, and successfully completed in numerous distance races including Wasatch Steeplechase 100 mile run, Boston Marathon, Deseret News Marathon, St. George Marathon, Honolulu Marathon, Goshen to Jordan 50 mile run, and numerous other Intermountain area races. He was an original member of the Salt Lake Track Club.
Tom enjoyed time with his family and his faithful pup Rascal. He loved hunting, fishing, Utah Jazz, and especially blessing other's lives. Special thanks to Lisa and Jessica for the countless ways they made Tom's last several years a very special and comfortable time for him since Ouida had passed.
Memorial Services will be held, Friday, January 6, 3:00 p.m., McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
Interment, Wednesday, January 11, 1:00 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
